Litigation Paralegal, Mediator, Divorce Coach
Alan Karmin is the principle of Karmin Paralegal and Mediation Services. He is a NJICLE-trained mediator and seasoned paralegal with extensive litigation experience with trial court, Appellate, and Federal matters in many areas of law.
Alan has not only been a mediator for civil and matrimonial matters, he has served as a divorce coach for many litigants who find it difficult dealing with all issues surrounding divorce and post-judgment litigation. He has given talks at workshops and spearheaded support groups in local communities especially with regard to parents' and childrens' rights, as well as domestic violence issues.
Honored by the New Jersey State Legislature for "Praiseworthy Determination and Spirit," Alan is an award winning writer and published author. Alan graduated from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida with a degree in Communications, and received his Paralegal Certificate from the ABA-approved program at Union County College. He is a member of Lamda Epsilon Chi paralegal honor society, the New Jersey State Bar Association, the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators, and the Paralegal Association of New Jersey.
Legal Nurse Consultant
Kim Perretta is a Board Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Education Manager, and Legal Nurse Consultant with over 25 years of experience as an RN and Nurse Practitioner in multiple specialties. She is well-versed in reviewing and analyzing medical records and identifying damages, causation, and standards of care for medical malpractice and personal injury cases, applying evidence-based practice standards to determine the extent to which appropriate care has been met, or deviated from, based on prudent and rational decisions made by the treating practitioner.
Kim has extensive experience in perioperative nursing having served in both scrub and circulating roles. She developed curriculum and performance improvement tools in the role as an Educator Manager for numerous New York City area hospitals. She has been a part of organ transplant teams led by high-profile physicians including Dr. Oz.
Samantha Hirtler was admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey in November of 2013 and the State of New York in January of 2014. Following her admittance to practice law, Samantha worked for Lakeland Surveying, a land survey company, as a legal consultant. She then joined Helfand & Associates in March 2014 as an associate attorney, where she devoted her practice primarily to family law. Samantha's experience in family law cases includes handling pleadings, discovery, briefing and arguing motions, as well as representing clients in mediation. In 2017 Samantha was named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers. As a law student she spent a summer interning at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General in the Division of Law, Cost Recovery Section. She also worked as a student clinician in the South Royalton Legal Clinic.
